  • Derbyshire School Sports Award

    Tue 17 Oct 2017
Buxworth School receives recognition of excellence.  At the packed award ceremony at the Winding Wheel  in Chesterfield on Tuesday, we were awarded Active Primary School of the Year  by the Derbyshire Schools Sports Awards.   We had been nominated by Chapel High School.  The two schools have worked together for many years achieving a high standard both in PE lessons at school, and through tournaments and competitions at Chapel high School and further afield.  The award recognises the commitment to school sport and developing healthy active lifestyles. A great achievement!  Thank you to Edith helping with transport  for the evening, and to Lucy for accompanying us.

  • Groundforce Success

    Sat 14 Oct 2017
A massive thank you to all the children, parents and friends who attended our Groundforce event on Saturday.  Many jobs were completed: all windows and window frames washed ["I don't mind some graft"]; the holly tree felled ["Exactly how many new seats would you like for the ECO area?]; holes were plugged {"Can't wait for the children to notice...hahahaha"]; steps were weeded [Thank you, Callam Wright]; 12 bin bags of leaves and mud were scraped from between the wall and footpath on the roadside of school [yuk -well done Ms Moore and Miss Wright]; flower beds were weeded [thank you, Phil]; leaves were blown [big toys for grown-ups]; sandpits were cleared and washed out [more sand needed - we'd forgotten HOW BIG IT WAS!!!].   A brilliant day.  THANK YOU no
  • Gymnastics Competition Y3 Y4

    Fri 13 Oct 2017

Y3 and Y4 have only been together as a team for a few weeks, but have already competed with local schools at Glossop Leisure Centre.  If only Mrs Rackstraw had listened to Elizabeth, they would have been there ON TIME.  Having had a detour via the swimming pool (angel) the team finally arrived.  They missed the warm up (sorry, everyone) but Megan and Elizabeth took charge and sorted that out!  Lily-Grace's Grandad was heroic in his attempts to sort out a parking space for the team bus... Well done, everyone.  We came 9th out of 12.  We all tried our best.

Special thanks to Eve's Mum for transport, and to Amy Longdon for lending us the Viano.
