Room on The Broom
The children had a wonderful first week back with lots of lovely learning and bucket loads of fun.
Our book this week was Room on the Broom and of course we shaped all of our learning around it.
In Maths we learnt how to compose 2D shapes and make new shapes. We really engaged our brains working out how we could make triangles out of squraes, trapeziums out of triangles and hexagons using triangles. We then used triangles and squares to make star wands, and a shaped magic cauldron for our wall display.
In English we looked at rhyming words. and made spells up using them.
We explored our Forest School area to collect ingredients for our own magic spells and used our imagination to say what they would make. We drew fantastic pictures of these things and popped them on our display. Come in to have a quick look; the display looks super.
We used our afternoon to think about the spells. We learnt about changing materials by mixing materials together. We made fizzing mixtures using vinegar and bicarbonate of soda and some extra special extra ingredients the children wanted to add.
We all had a wonderful week. Well done Little Conkers.
