Redwoods- Welcome back to the new term. I hope that you all had a lovely Summer break and are refreshed for life in the new class for the new school year.

This term, in Redwoods Class, we will be studying the topic of Tudors- Off With Your Head! We have worked hard to tie in our curriculum subjects to this fascinating topic. We have attached a topic plan for your information so that you can see what we intend to cover over the course of the term.

The children are all very excited and enthusiastic about our new topic, so please help to keep the enthusiasm going at home as well as at school. Perhaps you could assist your child with research on the internet or collecting a couple of books from the library, or let your child watch some of the BBC series on Netflix or Disney.  

I have added some web links with information about SATs to our class webpage for your information and will be giving out more information later in the year.

The children will receive new spellings lists each week. These will be sent home on Monday in preparation for their test on a Friday. Your child should be reading at home each night, recording this in their homework diary and practising times tables every evening as well.

A formal piece of English and/ or maths revision homework will be sent home each weekend- we would really appreciate your support with this.  We will also be asking the children to recap the learning from school each day by completing “extension” and “intervention” tasks at home. 

 The Homework diaries will continue to be used for important information each week. We would appreciate you checking and signing their homework diary on Thursday nights and returning to school on Fridays.

Forest school will be held on Thursday afternoons along with indoor P.E; Outdoor sports will be continuing on Fridays. Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for these activities each day and wear proper school uniform the other days of the week.

Please ensure that your child has a fully labelled water bottle in school every day, along with a sun hat or cap on warm sunny days for break times and outdoor sports sessions.

REDWOODS HOME LEARNING

Dear Parents,

Welcome back. I hope that you have all had an enjoyable half term break and are refreshed and ready for the next half term.

Once again, thank you for your support over the coming half term.

 As I am sure that you are aware, it is really important that the children continue with their learning so I will be teaching the class twice a day directly through Zoom sessions. The rest of the day, the lessons and daily plan (similar to the last lock down) will be on our class web page below. The children are expected to follow the plan and complete a variety of tasks and lessons throughout the day.

The morning taught Zoom lesson will start at 9.15am. Please make sure that your child/ children are set up ready to take part in the lessons from 9.12am.

The afternoon Zoom session will start at 2.30pm, please make sure that the children are ready by 2.28pm.

I will then admit the children one by one to the lessons.

The childrens' Microphones will all be muted so that I can teach and explain the daily plan and tasks uninterrupted.

Well, we have done it!

We have completed our first home school isolation period.

You have all worked so amazingly hard. I am VERY VERY proud of each and every one of you and thrilled that you are in my class this year.

You have completed work, joined me on Zoom twice a day, sent work through and risen to every challenge that I have set!

Good Morning Redwood Class,

We are now working at home for a couple of weeks. You will need to follow the class timetable for each day.

We will have a zoom lesson every morning between 9 am and 9.30am- This is where I will let you know what is happening each day, take the register and set you off on the tasks.

We will then have another zoom lesson every afternoon from 2.15 -2.45 to see what you have been doing and to have a question and answer session.

You are all expected to do the learning that is on the daily plan. All of the work cards and Power Point presentations that you need will also be on the class page so you can down load, print off and complete the work.

Please keep all of the work in a folder or in your homework books so that I can mark it all and assess it when we get back to school.

Welcome back to the Autumn Term 2.

We will be continuing with our Space "The Final Frontier" topic this term. We are looking forward to another fun filled term learning all about space, the planets, the galaxies, The Great Astronomers and of course NASA's latest discovery!

Please find within the stars, activities for the children to complete should they be off school for any length of time.

These activities are all appropriate for their age range.

Your child should choose : -

1 Spellings work card, 1 Maths activity, 1 Literacy activity, 1 topic activity per day.

Welcome Back Redwoods!

I hope that you all had a lovely summer break and are refreshed ready for the new school year.

Year 5 and 6 are very important school years for the children and I am very pleased to see their hard work and enthusiasm already shining through.

This term our class topic will be Space The Final Frontier. We are all super excited about this.

Please have a look at the topic plan attached to this page for an idea of what we will be covering throughout the term.

I will update this page with spelling lists and any "need to know" notes each week.

The children are all expected to learn their spellings each night, along with their times tables ready for their tests on Fridays.

The children all have a new Senior Class Homework Diary this year.

All Homework Diaries are kept in school Monday to Thursday and then sent home on Thursday night for signing and checking and returned to school Friday morning. 

Written homework will be sent home on Thursday nights also and is expected to be back in Monday morning

Good Afternoon Parents of Redwoods Year 6 children,

As it is the last week in Primary School for the year 6 children, please find below the timetable of activities that we have planned for them.

We have done our best, in these trying times, to ensure that their transition from primary school and final few days are as exciting and organised as possible.

The children have worked incredibly hard this year and have all made tremendous progress, I am personally very proud of each and every one of them.

Today is the last one. You then get 2 weeks rest - you will need it. There are activities on Twinkl that you can access if you want to stay up to date.

There is also the writing competition that you can do. You have your Maths work books and Home Learning packs to complete and Power Maths books.

You may also finish the Far from Home Book if you wish.

We still do not know when we will be back at school, but please keep your eye on the website and web pages as messages will be posted on there.

Have a superb Easter Break- Hope you get lots of Chocolate eggs.

I am also attaching a link to a competition. It looks fabulous. It is a Victorian writing competition sent out by the Victorian Museum and centre at Iron Bridge. Open the link and have a read, see if you would like to enter. You are AMAZING writers, particularly about the Victorian Era.

I hope that you are all OK? I am uploading all of the work for Thursday and Friday today because, as you can see from the "Digging For Gold" picture, we had a little incident in the garden at home with our internet cable. Gwynn didn't find gold in the end- she found my internet cable! OOPPSS!! 

This means I currently have no internet. Thank you Gwynn!

Should be back to normal next week though.
