We have had a wonderful week in The Little Conkers' Class. We spent lots of time in Phonics listening to and making different sounds with instruments. We also listened to hidden sounds inside shakers and had to guess what things were making the sounds. We all really enjoyed making our own shakers afterwards.
In Maths our magic number was 4. we learnt to count to and find 4 of lots of things. We deepened our understanding of the 4number by learning to show it in different ways using cubes, and fingers for example showing 4+ 0, 3+1 and 2+ 2.
In Topic we learnt about Autumn and found signs of Autumn in our playground and outside areas.
Our focus text this week was Sleeping Beauty and after listening to the story the childen asked many super questions. As always, whilst reading through the story, I explained what any new words meant so we discussed what a 'feast' and a ' Grand Ball' were. They then went straight to create a grand ball in the role play. We used this interest throughout the week to plan, prepare and make a real feast and party on Thursday afternoon. The children made a plan, made decorations, made cards to give each other, made sandwiches and made cakes. They used most of the skills we are developing through the EYFS whilst having fun.
They all had a wonderful time at the Grand Ball and enjoyed dancing, playing games and eatig their feast.
