This term we will be enjoying sharing a story book every day. The children will be listening and being asked lots of questions about what they have heard. This will include about the setting, the characters and the storyline. I will be asking them to predict what might happen next and to say why.
We will be sending home picture books for you to share at home from week beginning the 26th September. Please spend time letting your child tell the story using the pictures. Look at the obvious story first then with each successive read look for the back story- what is happening in the background. Talk about the setting and the characters, ask what they are doing, what they might be saying and how they might be feeling. Ask what your son or daughter would do in the same situation.
The aim of the books this term is to develop your child's ability to tell stories and become familiar with story language.
Please try to share the books and read every week at least 3 times.
