🍂🍂🍂Autumn Leaves 🍂🍂🍂

The children were excited to be back in the Forest School after the half term break.

This week the children explored the Autumn leaves that have fallen. They used their senses and language skills to explore and describe how they looked, felt, smelt and sounded.

Other child initiated play included:

-Making pudding with berries and leaves

-Making mud castles

-Playing on a mud slide

It was very stormy today so we stayed inside. This week we learned about hedgehogs and plan to make a hedgehog house to encourage hedgehogs into our Forest School area.

We briefly went outside to collect leaves to make an Autumnal hedgehog.

Autumn has arrived!!

This week the children explored Autumn leaves. Their challenge was to find as many different colours of leaves and as many different shaped leaves as they could. They found red, yellow and brown leaves of all shapes and sizes!

-Children used clay to make hedgehogs.

-Childen showed resilience when pouring and filling containers to make 'milkshakes'.

And of course they had fun splashing in muddy puddles!

TEAMWORK!

This week in Forest School our theme was 'teamwork'. The children worked on helping each other, their sharing skills and playing collaboratively.

- We had some budding chefs making mud pies, soup and worm spaghetti!

- Children pushed each other on the rope swing and patiently waited for their turn.

- Children used a picture frame to look closer at interesting items in the forest.

Last but not least we had a worm hunt, the children's favourite activity!

29.09.23

In Forest School this week we explored the forest in more detail. The children then collected interesting leaves, sticks, flowers and berries for their individual King and Queen crowns.

Children also worked in teams to make dens and had competitions to see who could make the biggest 'PLOP!' by throwing stones into the river.

It was great fun!

22.09.23

In Forest School the children were encouraged to make a self portrait. They used natural materials found in the forest to represent their eyes, nose, mouth and hair.

The rain gave the children lots of opportunities to splash in muddy puddles and to find worms.

At the end of our session we came inside to get dry and had a cup of hot chocolate to warm up.

15.09.23

Today the Little Conkers enjoyed their first session in the Forest School area. After getting to know our surroundings and making some rules in order to keep safe, the children went off to explore. The children had lots of fun!

This week the children:

*Climbed trees

*Made magic wands

*Hunted for mini beasts, they found lots of worms!

*Balanced on logs and hung from the ropes

This was thirsty work, so we sat around the fire circle and had juice and the yummy apple crumble that the children had made in class.
