Eco School Status

Breaking news........  an ECO Schools assessor visited school this morning to work with Mrs Pattison and the ECO committee following our application for ECO School status. Just heard that Buxworth have been successful. A real tribute to the children's work and Mrs Pattison's dedication to this objective over several years. WELL DONE!!

2nd July
Here are the comments of our ECO Schools assessor.

"The enthusiasm of the Eco co-ordinator, Eco-committee, headteacher and other staff was clearly evident. They were very (and justifiably) proud of all the work they have done. The children talked with passion about the work they had done to improve the school environment and make it more eco friendly. They were justly proud of their achievements in developing their school grounds, particularly the woodland area and garden. The children were keen to explain all about the things they had led and also the things they had learned. There was clear good practice in enabling the children to identify their learning and explain how leading particular topics or doing particular activities had given them good opportunities to develop knowledge, skills and experience. The whole ethos of the school was focussed on sustainability. Eco-schools and forest schools underpins everything that happens at the school and the school have clearly thought about how to embed eco topics within the curriculum. Well done and keep up the great work."
