As you have probably seen from the Prime Minister and Education Secretary this evening that from Friday the 20th of March all schools in the United Kingdom will be closed to most children. There are a few children who may still attend school and this information will be relayed out when the school is informed of the criteria.
My staff have been working on this probable scenario over the last few weeks. We have set up online learning for the children. The teachers will begin to place lessons and work for the children online over the next few days, along with structures for the day etc. This can be accessed form the School Website Class Pages.
I have also arranged for a free months membership for all parents to an extra online learning platform if the children would like to choose to do more work at home.
Setting this up is really easy to do - go to www.twinkl.co.uk/offer and enter the code UKTWINKLHELPS and this will give you complete access.
I will also be looking to re-task certain parts of the school to becoming a food bank for the area, so we can deliver to the most needy and vulnerable people in our community who could well be self isolating. Anyone that can assist in that effort please feel free to contact me.
I am sure you will join me in agreeing that these are unprecedented times and this will therefore take unprecedented action from us all. But we are a strong community and working together we can achieve the best outcomes for everyone within our society. I have been your headteacher for the last 18 months and it is already evident to me that working together is a phenomenal strength of our Buxworth community.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to speak to me.
