It was lovely to welcome the children back to school on Monday and see all of their beautiful faces once more. They were really excited to learn that our topic this term is Knights and castles and have thrown themselves into it already.
They have started learning all about the castle timeline; learning about the first castles being made from wood and thenprogressed to be made from stone. The children have become very knowledgeale already. Many children have worked together well to paint and make some superb castles and dungeons.
In Maths they have been learning to add by counting on. Lots of them have loved playing hopscotch and snales and ladders to use their new skills. In English they have written lots of lovely sentences
practising writing independently using their phonics to help them spell.
In other news they have had a walk around the village learning how to name geographical features and they drew some superb maps. This is in preparation for when they draw and label maps with their castles on.
Everyone has had a wonderful week.
We are all looking forward to next week when we go to visit a real life castle: Bolsover Castle.
