Week Comencing 2.5.22
The children had a wonderful week learning more about castles.
They really enjoyed the trip to Bolsover Castle where they got the chance to go inside The Little Castle and experience all of the different areas. They found the downstairs servants area interesting ......and cold! And the loved going upstairs to the reception and banqueting rooms where they were enthralled by the beautiful tapestries, painting and ceilings. The Riding House and Terrace were great fun and they all enjoyed dressing up, playing games from the time and then running around the horse training area.
One of the biggest hits was the wooden castle playground area- it was fantastic.
On our return the children told me lots of great facts they had learnt and how much they had enjoyed the trip.
On Thursday they were amazed when they received a letter from Sir Charles Cavendish, who had built The Little Castle in 1612. He asked them what the castle was like now and everyone wanted to write him a letter back to tell him. Their letters are super and are being sent to Sir Charles this week. We hope he replies.
