Welcome to the summer term, we hope you all had a lovely Easter! This term, we will be going on an adventure back in time through our new topic, 'The Romans - Veni, Vidi, Vici’. We will be learning about how Rome was founded and the rise of the Roman Empire. We will discover what life was like in the Roman Army and for the citizens of Rome during this time. During the first week of term, we have planned an unforgettable school trip to Chester. When the Romans settled here, they named the city Deva. Inevitably, this learning experience will inspire some fantastic work across the topic. Please click on the sub-pages above for more information about the trip and our learning this half-term. For updates and reminders, please read the welcome back newsletter.

Summer Term 2
Food Glorious Food!
This term we will be exploring everything food related with the finale of this school year ending in our own chocolate bar creations and advertisements.
Stay tuned for other delicious elements to our learning.
Buxworth's Day of Compassion
Today, we have all developed a better understanding of the meaning of compassion and empathy. We read the story 'Clean up' and put ourselves in the shoes of the main character, Rocket. We understood how she felt in the story and why then made our own pledges to the environment.
Bushcraft Day!
We’ve had a fantastic afternoon with Peter. We’ve learnt how to light a fire using flint and steel and how to safely whittle the wood for the fire. We ended the session with a game of darts with the darts we made out of willow and feathers.
We had a great fun kicking off our topic with a foodie themed treasure hunt. We solved maths and English based puzzles and riddles to find a trove of sweets and chocolates.
Today we had the most fantastic time at our Egyptian Day. The children all looked amazing - well done for such a fantastic costume effort! We learnt an incredible amount, helped to build a tomb, took on various Ancient Egyptian jobs, created our own dances to perform, re-enacted a battle scene, made scarab beetle necklaces, made shabtis, made boat sails, weighed our hearts and practised mummification, as well as lots more! It was a very busy day! Have a look at the photos below and use them to tell your grown ups what we did.
We would like to thank the PTA for funding such a fabulous day!
Welcome to the Summer Term! We hope you all had a fantastic Easter break.

Forest Schools: Wednesday
Please come wearing appropriate clothing on these days.
As forest school and PE are on the same day, please send pupils into school wearing their PE kit and have waterproofs/wellies in a bag.
Spelling test: Wednesday
Times table test: Friday
The afterschool club for Year 3s will be Drawing club on a Monday with Mrs Turega, running until 4:10pm. As with the end of the school day, club times are staggered for different classes, so please try to arrive promptly for pick-ups from clubs.
Please send your child's reading book and diary into school each Friday so we can give rewards for reading at home and change reading books. New books will be sent home on a Friday. Diaries will be quarantined over the weekend and checked on Monday before being returned to children. Please note, new books will only be sent home if old ones have been returned.
Homework: Throughout the week your child will be expected to learn their spellings and times tables and should try to read every evening. Every Friday, your child will bring home one Maths task and one Literacy task, and they will be things the children have learnt in school during the week. This is to help the children to consolidate their learning and to give them some extra practise. Additionally, a times table sheet will be sent for the times tables they will be tested on the following Friday.
And finally, a polite reminder that toys and pencil cases stay at home for the foreseeable future to limit things going between home and school.
