We've had a fabulous day celebrating the end of our topic with a visit from an Aquarium rock pool. We've really enjoyed touching, holding and exploring water animals such as starfish, crabs and muscles.

Ada asked if she could read a book from home to the class today. Confidently, she read the story and shared the pictures with the children. They all listened brilliantly to her. She did an amazing job - well done Ada!

Autumn Term 1
Week beginning: 28.09.20
We have been reading the fable ‘Why Elephant has a trunk’. We have described the characters and the setting ready to rewrite the story. To help us write the story, we thought about the beginning, middle and end. I asked the children to write their favourite parts down on their whiteboards then we created a human story timeline. They had to decide whether their part of the story was in the beginning, middle or end.

This week, we have been getting to know each other and getting use to the new routines. We launched into our new topic 'On Safari', by going on a 'real life' live Safari in South Africa. Our class, along with Sycamore Class, accessed the safari on Wild Earth TV and we emailed questions to the experienced game rangers. The children were so excited to see their questions being answered live on the TV. They went on a wild adventure in the African Bush and experienced African animals in their natural environment.
It has also been assessment week. The children have worked incredibly hard to show us what they already know and what we need to work on in class. When we completed them, they deserved some well-earned 'free' time. Lacey and Finnley, explored our maths station and made a model of a bank, complete with money and a security guard.
