What have we been doing in school?

Yoga Ninja

As part of our wellbeing journey, we met Yoga Ninja whose superpower is to use yoga moves to combat negative feelings. After having a go at some of Yoga Ninja's moves, the children made up their own yoga poses/stances based on animals.

Chinese dragon puppets

In D&T, the children made Chinese dragon puppets. They needed to draw and cut around templates for the dragons face and fold two stripes of paper over each other for the body (this was very tricky).

Once they had finished the dragons, they used their puppets to perform a dance just like they would during the parades to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Ancient Pagodas

As part of our China topic, we have been learning about the architecture of pagodas. We explored how and why they were built then had a go at painting our own using watercolours. Take a look at the children’s amazing artwork.

Number Day 2022

In teams, we took part in Buddy's Key Challenge. Buddy needed to go on a mission to space to explore different planets. On his way to the spaceship, he popped into Sycamore Class to say goodbye but unfortunately dropped the key to the spaceship door which broke into ten pieces. We had to work together to help Buddy by answering the questions to solve the clues and find the pieces of the key hidden in our classroom. Excellent team work by all but a huge well done to our winning teams - Team Divide and Team Takeaway.

Captain Calm Saves the Day

This week we met Captain Calm. When feeling overwhelmed, Captain Calm uses his calm capsule to help focus and clear his mind. In class, we made our own calm capsules that we can use when we are feeling angry or frustrated or when our minds become clouded. Simply shake the capsule and watch the turbulence settle. Why not try Professor Pinwheel's superpower of breathing whilst watching the power of the calming capsule.

Wellbeing Wednesday

So far on our Wellbeing journey, we have met Professor Pinwheel and Agent Grateful. They are part of a superhero team trying to defeat the mighty Negatron. Professor Pinwheel has taught us to use the power of breathing to help us when we are feeling angry or anxious. Agent Grateful’s superpower is gratitude. When you are feeling upset, try thinking about all the things you are grateful for and remember the positive things that have happened in your life. Take a look at the photos to see our pinwheels and our tree of gratitude.
