Wednesday 20th

Wednesday 20th January

Good morning Sycamore class.

Here are the activities I would like you to complete today.

Do the activities in any order, but I suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail photos of your work to me each day if you want.

1) English

Yesterday you worked really hard to write your own instructions about making pizzas for a monster. Today I’d like you to begin by checking your work and filling in the success criteria. Read your writing slowly and carefully to check it makes sense. Pause after each full stop to check it’s in the right place. Then fill in the Success Criteria by ticking any of the features you have included in your writing.

Now I’d like you to practise your joined up handwriting by writing up your instructions neatly on the Monster Writing Page attached below. You can choose wide or narrow lines and there is a blank sheet if you’d like to add a picture. Please start with a title: How to make Monster Pizza and then use subheadings for Ingredients and Method. If you forgot any of the features in your success criteria, you can add them into your neat copy.

2) Maths

  1. Log on to TT Rock Stars and spend 5-10 minutes on your tables. They are set for all tables up to 12x12 as you should know these off by heart by the end of Y4.
  2. Open up the ‘Times tables’ resource below and answer the questions. Ask an adult to mark them and I will collect the answers this afternoon.
  3. Open up the ‘Mixed up maths’ presentation in the resource section below. Once it is open, click the ‘slideshow’ tab and then click ‘from the beginning’ – ask an adult to help you with this.
  4. The presentation is set out in days but I would like you to complete all days today. Work your way through, answering the questions. They are a mixture of different elements of maths (place value, calculations, reasoning, decimals etc.) Don’t worry if you struggle with some of them, if there is no adult to help you, skip it and do the ones you can – we can look any tricky ones when we get back into class.
  5. Make a note of your answers on a piece of paper.

3) Spellings

It’s test day! Mrs Brammer will test you on your spellings during the morning Zoom lesson. Listen carefully to the group you are in so you know which words you need to write down. After the lesson, you can ask an adult to mark them and tell us your scores during the afternoon Zoom lesson. Below, you will find the new rule for your new spellings.

4) Topic

Today we will be mixing our topic lesson with maths in a robot co-ordinates activity. If you can’t remember how to plot co-ordinates, watch the short video in this link:  Then, open up the ‘Robot Co-ordinates’ activity and get plotting! After that, you can choose to colour one or more of the robot pictures (found in the resource section)

5) PE

You can choose to do PE with Joe but googoling one of his PE workouts, or you might choose to do dance with Oti by following this link. Maybe you could film a short clip of you doing one of these ans send it to me so we can share it with the class.
