Good Morning Hawthorn Class!
Happy Wednesday! We are almost half-way through the school week - here are the activities we would like you to complete today. You can choose what order you do the activities in, but we suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail a copy to us each day.
For today’s lesson, click on the link entitled Monster Pizza Instructions 3. Today you will be planning the ingredients for a pizza perfect for a monster!
When you have finished, I would love for you to design your own monster and send me a picture. Will it look like the one in the lesson? Or will it be different? Think about what shape it will be, how many eyes it will have, what colour it will be and how many legs it will have to get you started. Save your pictures to show me later!
Job 1 - please can you make some number cards (0-10) to use in tomorrow's Zoom lesson. All you need is a piece of A4 paper or card and fold it in half and half again so you have 4 parts. Write a number in each part and cut along the folds. Repeat until you have all your cards. Make sure your numbers are clear so I will be able to see them on the screen.
Job 2 - L.O: I can use rounding to estimate addition calculations
2. Try to answer the questions by pausing the video but if you would prefer the questions are at the end of the video too.
3. End the lesson by completing the online quiz to see what you have learnt.
It’s test day! I will test you on your spellings during the morning Zoom lesson. Listen carefully to the group you are in so you know which words you need to write down. After the lesson, you can ask an adult to mark them and tell us your scores via e-mail or during the afternoon Zoom lesson. Below, you will find the new rule for your new spellings.
This afternoon we will be looking at some geography. Watch the ‘New Dinosaur’ Video in the resources section. It is all about a new species of Dinosaur that was found in South Africa (a link to our ‘On Safari’ Topic). Once you have watched the video, open up the ‘Dinosaurs in Africa’ activity sheet. You have to use an atlas, a map or the internet to help you identify the countries of Africa where all the dinosaurs on the sheet have been found. On the map of Africa, write the number of the dinosaur (from the table) on the correct African Country. If you don't have a printer, point to the correct country for each dinosaur.
Forest School - Today, Miss Quick and I would like you to take a trip outside; that could be into the garden if you have one or go for a walk with your family (it doesn’t matter if this is out of school time). Whilst you’re out and about, try to find some natural objects such as leaves and twigs. When you get home, make an environmental picture using the items your found – can you turn your items in to an animal? A building? Send me a photograph of what you’ve made.
