Wednesday 10th

Wednesday 10th February

Good morning Sycamore class.

Here are the activities I would like you to complete today.

I suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail photos of your work to me each day if you want.

1) English

Today you are going to edit your climax to The Man on the Moon. You will be checking and improving these things:

  • punctuation
  • ambitious vocabulary
  • show not tell
  • range of sentence types

Here is the link to your lesson:

2) Maths

1. Spend about 15 minutes on TT Rock Stars. (If you’d like your table changing, let me know via email)

2. Open up the ‘Power Up’ activity from the resource section below and use it to warm up your maths brain.

3.  This morning we will be looking at short division. Click the link to follow today’s maths lesson  Short division (Part 1) (thenational.academy)

3) Spellings

It’s test day! Mrs Brammer will test you on your spellings during the morning Zoom lesson. Listen carefully to the group you are in so you know which words you need to write down. After the lesson, you can ask an adult to mark them and tell us your scores during the afternoon Zoom lesson. Below, you will find the new rule for your new spellings.

4) Topic

This afternoon we are looking at the Chinese dragon specifically a tutorial on how to draw one. The ‘How to draw a Chinese Dragon’ video below is a really good, step-by-step tutorial. The teacher says that the video says that it is advanced level for children who or 13 but I think you will all be able to do this – give it a go! As always, I’d love to see your pictures.

5) PE

For PE today, I’d like you to get out and about. You need fresh air to fill your lungs so go for a walk, play at the park, walk the dog or walk the chicken, play in the garden – whatever you choose to do, get outside and get moving!
