Tuesday 9th February  

Good morning Sycamore class. 

Here are the activities I would like you to complete today.

I suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail photos of your work to me each day if you want.

 

1) English

It is now time to write the climax to The Man on the Moon. Make sure you use the words and phrases you wrote down yesterday in your work today – you’ve already done lots of the hard work! You can add today’s expanded noun phrases to your work from yesterday so all your planning is in one place. Use the success criteria below to check you have everything you need once you are finished.

 

Success Criteria:

LO: to write the climax of a narrative  / or -> 
I have used ambitious vocabulary.                                                                               
I have shown how the characters are feeling.  
I have used a range of sentence types.

2) Maths

 

1. Spend about 15 minutes on TT Rock Stars. (If you’d like your table changing, let me know via email)

2. Open up the ‘Power Up’ activity from the resource section below and use it to warm up your maths brain.

3.  Today we will be looking at dividing using known multiples. Click the oak academy link to follow today’s lesson Dividing using knowledge of multiples (thenational.academy).

 

3) Spellings

Let’s get practising! Tomorrow is test day so I want you to practise your spellings in your favourite way. Why not play a game of Hangman using your spelling words?

 

4) Topic

 

Today we are going to study and animal that is only found naturally in China – the Giant Panda. Open up the ‘All about Pandas’ in the resource section and make notes on any key facts. You can also find some fab facts on Nat Geo Kids (https://www.natgeokids.com/uk/discover/animals/general-animals/ten-panda-facts/)  After that, use the information you’ve read to either make a poster about the giant panda, create an information leaflet, or a mini book – your choice.

 

5) Yoga Quest

6) Forest School 

Let’s see if you can make a paint brush from natural materials. Open up the ‘Natural Paintbrushes’ resource and read through it. Look around your garden, or the park, or along your daily walk and see if you can find some good items to make a paintbrush. Once you’ve found some, tie them together with some string, wool or elastic band and see if you can paint with it. I’d love to see your pictures.
