Tuesday 23rd February
Good morning Sycamore class.
Here are the activities I would like you to complete today.
I suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail photos of your work to me each day if you want.
The next few days of English lessons will all be based around a picture, ‘The Magic Sunflower’.
Have a good look at the picture and then answer the questions on the ‘Magic Sunflower Question Time’ sheet – use your imagination in your answers. You can write them down or tell a grown-up your answers.
When you have finished, I would like you to complete the SPaG Mat. You only need to do the first sheet. The answers are on the second sheet if you want to mark your own work.
Spend 10-15 minutes on your Times Table Rockstar account. (If you need a specific table, let me know)
Open up the mental maths activity and complete the challenges.
We will be continuing our work on 2D shapes this morning. Click the link to follow a BBC Bitesize video all about recognising and describing 2D shapes. After that, open up the 2 resources called ‘Name that shape’ and ‘Describe the shape and complete both activities. It is important that you can recognise and name all the shapes in these activities. Over the week, ask someone to test you on these. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zkhbp4j
Which method of practising your spellings works best for you? It is test day tomorrow so spend at least 15 minutes today practising your spellings in your own way. Will you write them in rainbow colours? Do you like drawing a picture to help you learn your spellings? Do you look for words within words? Perhaps you play a game using your spellings?
4) Topic – Science
We will be starting our new science topic today and like the art yesterday, it’s all about flowers and plants. For this lesson we will be exploring the parts and functions of a plant. Click the link to follow an Oak academy video which will guide you through your learning. We will only be looking at the first part of the video; the second half is about an investigation in a previous lesson but we'll be doing this when when we're all back together in class. What are the parts and functions of a plant? (thenational.academy)
