Tuesday 19th

Tuesday 19th January

Good morning Sycamore class.

Here are the activities I would like you to complete today.

You can do the activities in any order, but I suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail photos of your work to me each day if you want.

1) English

Today is my favourite day because you finally get to write your instructions and you know how excited I get about writing! Ms Bourke is going to work through the instructions with you step by step in a way that is really easy to follow. Use the Monster Pizza Instructions proforma as a template to write on, but don’t be afraid to add more detail if you can! I can’t wait to read them! Click on Monster Pizza Instructions 7 to get started.

2) Maths

  1. Log on to TT Rock Stars and spend 5-10 minutes on your tables. They are set for all tables up to 12x12 as you should know these off by heart by the end of Y4.
  2. Open up the ‘Times tables’ resource below and answer the questions. Ask an adult to mark them and I will collect the answers this afternoon.
  3. Today’s maths lesson is going to be another oak academy lesson on subtraction. Click the link and follow the instructions on the video.  Subtracting using the column method, when multiple columns require regrouping (thenational.academy)

3) Spellings

Let’s get practising! Tomorrow is test day, so I want you to practise your spellings in your favourite way. Will you draw a picture of your word or use colours to write them in a rainbow pattern? Can you put your words into a sentence? Can you write them in alphabetical order?

4) Topic

Today is the day to create your own 3D robot. You can use items from your recycling, craft items, Lego, building blocks, items from the shed (ask permission first though!) or just card, paper and glue. It’s up to you. Make sure you draw a picture of what you want to make first (or use the one from yesterday). After that, build away until you have a completed robot. Take a picture and send it to me.

5) PE & Forest School

Open on the ‘Winter Bird feeder’ activity in the resources below. During Lockdown one, many of you made bird feeders and they were a great success so let’s get feeding those birds, especially this week during the RSPB Bird Spotting Week.
