Tuesday 12th January

Good Morning!

Here are the activities we would like you to complete today. You can choose what order you do the activities in, but we suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail a copy to us each day.

1) English

For today’s lesson, we’re going to start by reading the How to wash your elephant instructions. You could get a grown up to read them to you if you prefer. It’s best to read them aloud if you can and think about pausing when you see a full stop. Make sure you read all of it, including headings, sub-headings and equipment.

When you have finished, I’d like you to recap yesterday’s learning by circling all the sequencing words (eg first, next, then). Remember these are also called adverbs of time. Then underline all the imperative verbs (eg clean, hold, move, scrub). Keep this sheet if you have printed it, as we’ll use it again another day.

Next, click on the link entitled Monster Pizza Instructions 2. This lesson is a Grammar lesson all about ‘being’ verbs. You’ll be thinking about different types of words and writing some sentences.

2) Maths

L.O: I can round 3-digit numbers to the nearest 100 using number lines

1. Start the lesson with an online quiz to see what you already know.

2. Try to answer the questions by pausing the video but if you would prefer the questions are at the end of the video too.

3. End the lesson by completing the online quiz to see what you have learnt.

3) Spellings

Let’s get practising! Tomorrow is test day, so I want you to practise your spellings in your favourite way. Will you draw a picture of your word or use colours to write them in a rainbow pattern? Can you put your words into a sentence? Can you write them in alphabetical order?

4) Topic

Good Afternoon Hawthorn class. The topic activity today is all about Dinosaur poo. Open up the ‘Dino Dung’ activity sheet and follow the instructions to create your own Dino dung. Why don’t you film yourself making it or pretending to find it outside whilst on a dinosaur safari?! After you have made it, open up the ‘Dino Dung Questions’ from the resource section below and answer the questions. Talk about the questions with an adult if you can, or you could choose to record your thoughts on paper.

5) Yoga Quest

On our third adventure through Shark's Bay, we will meet Popcorn the Dolphin. I would love to see some pictures of you on your yoga quest.
