Thursday 25th

Thursday 25th February

Good morning Sycamore class.

Here are the activities I would like you to complete today.

I suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail photos of your work to me each day if you want.

1) English

I’d like you to start today’s learning with the ‘Expanded Noun Phrases Warm Up’. We have done lots of work on these. Remember, expanded noun phrases are when we use adjectives (describing words) to describe nouns (person, place or thing words).

Then complete today’s Magic Sunflower activity called ‘Perfect Picture’. Have another look at the Magic Sunflower picture and then imagine what the sunflower might look like the next day.

  • Would it be a lot bigger?
  • Would it be the same colour?
  • Will Lucy still be standing next to it?
  • Will it look stronger or will it have started to die?

Draw a picture to show what it now looks like and underneath write a description. Think about writing in full sentences, use expanded noun phrases with ambitious vocabulary (interesting words) and try to extend your sentences with conjunctions (and, but, so, because, after, when).

2) Maths

Spend 10-15 minutes on your Times Table Rockstar account. (If you need a specific table, let me know)

Open up the mental maths activity and complete the challenges

Today we will be learning how to identify different types of angles. Click the link and watch the BBC Bitesize video which will explain what obtuse, acute and reflex angels are. After that, open up the resource called ‘Angles’ and work through the Power Maths activities.

3) Spellings

Can you find your spellings that are hidden in the word search? Why don't you time yourself to see if you can beat your time next week?

4) Topic – RE

This term we will be looking at the theme of prayer and how different religions of the world use prayer in their everyday lives. We will be starting with how Christian children pray and the key beliefs that they hold. Watch the video at for a quick introduction to what prayer is. After that, open up the ‘Christian Beliefs’ powerpoint presentation and read through it to help you understand the core beliefs in the Christian faith. Once you have done this, open up the ‘Christian Beliefs’ activity sheet and fill it in with the information you’ve seen in the presentations. Alternatively, you can use the information you’ve read to create a poster or a video about the Christian faith.

5) Forest School

Today you will be look at Natures building blocks. Open up the ‘Natures Building Blocks’ activity for today’s instructions.
