Photos of our Learning

We have had an amazing Autumn Term learning all about the Tudors.

Here's a snippet of the children's learning over the term:

Maths

In addition to our number and place value unit, we've been learning all about shapes. We have learnt to identify and describe the properties of 2D and 3D shapes, including drawing and creating nets of 3D shapes. We then moved on to finding the area and perimeter of 2D shapes and applied this knowledge to solving problems. We learnt that when 2D shapes are decomposed and rearranged to make a new compound shape, the area remains the same.

Forest Schools

We've explored, investigated and collaborated in our fantastic outdoor learning area. This included making a variety of habitats to support our thriving wildlife, lighting fires and making s'mores, working as a team to create a net to support the weight of the whole class.

Art

Over the term, we have been developing our skills in drawing portraits in the style of Hans Holbein, Henry VIII's personal portraitist. We followed tutorials of how to draw different facial features before drawing a portrait of ourselves. We then continued drawing a portrait of King Henry VIII or one of his family members. Finally, for our showcase piece, we chose whether to draw a complete portrait of King Henry/one of his family members or turn ourselves into a Tudor King or Queen.

Design and Technology

For our Tudor topic in D&T, we began by enhancing our paper weaving skills in the design of a Tudor Rose or a Coat of Arms. We've then moved on to designing and making our own Tudor purses.
