Welcome back for another week of Home Learning Hawthorn Class!
We hope you had a lovely weekend and are ready to see all your friends on Zoom today. We are looking forward to another week of Zoom calls to keep in touch and see how you're doing!
Have a think about something nice you could do for someone in your house today...
Here are the activities we would like you to complete today. You can choose what order you do the activities in, but we suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail a copy to us each day.
1) English
Today you are going to start planning the climax of your narrative. The climax is when the problem in a story reaches its peak. It is when the story gets most exciting and when there is the most tension. In The Man on the Moon, the climax is the part where the little girl finally finds a way to communicate with the old man. You will be thinking of words and phrases to ‘show not tell’ what is happening and how the characters are feeling during the climax of the story. I have attached a sheet with the key pictures in the Resources section.

3) Spellings
It's Monday so let's practise our handwriting and our spellings at the same time. Concentrate on your joining of letters, have you joined all the letters that need joining?
4) Topic
This week we will be looking at China and Chinese new year. Open up the 'China Fact file' and also take a look at https://kids.nationalgeographic.com/explore/countries/china/.
