Monday 25th

Monday 25th January

Good morning Sycamore class.

Here are the activities I would like you to complete today.

suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail photos of your work to me each day if you want.

1) English

Today we are going to start a brand new English unit called The Man on the Moon! It is a visual unit which means we will be watching something, rather than reading something. Today we will be watching the clip and thinking about our initial responses:

  • What do we expect to see?
  • What do we actually see?
  • How does it make you feel?
  • What do you like or dislike?
  • What would we like to know?

You will also be asked to order pictures from the story so I have added a copy of the pictures below for you to print off and cut out if you wish.

Here is a link to your lesson:

2) Maths

  1. Log on to TT Rock Stars and spend 5-10 minutes on your tables. They are set for all tables up to 12x12 as you should know these off by heart by the end of Y4.
  2. Open up the ‘Times tables’ resource below and answer the questions. Ask an adult to mark them and I will collect the answers this afternoon.
  3. This week is going to be all about Roman numerals. Click this link and watch a short bbc video about roman numerals on a clock.
  4. After that, open up the ‘Roman Numerals Booklet’ in the resource section and complete pages 2, 3 and 4.

3) Spellings

It's Monday so let's practise our handwriting and our spellings at the same time. Concentrate on the size of your handwriting, look carefully at the tall letter and the fall letters.

4) Topic

This week in topic is Art Week so we will be looking at different artists, art styles and craft.

1. Open the ‘Kandinsky Presentation’ in the resource section below and read through it.

2. Open the ‘Kandinsky Circles Poster’ resource sheet and look at how the picture is made up of different coloured circles.

3. On the ‘Kandinsky Circles’ activity sheet, create your own coloured circle in each box. Think about different shades and tones. You can choose to use any medium you like – paints, pencil crayon, felt tip, pastel – your choice! If you can’t print, just draw them on a piece of paper.

5) PE

PE with Joe - He is live in the morning but you can google PE with Joe and catch up with any of his workouts. Pick one and get active! Alternatively, you can choose a physical activity of your choice to do at home – Dance, Gymnastics, bike riding, basketball, and roller skating (my favourite!) Anything you’d like, get it done! I’d love to see photos of you working out!
