Monday 1st February
Good morning Sycamore class.
Here are the activities I would like you to complete today.
I suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail photos of your work to me each day if you want.
1) English
Now that you have written the opening to your narrative, we are going to start thinking about the build-up. Today you will be thinking of some different words and phrases to describe how the characters are feeling at different points in the build-up. To help you organise your work, I have attached a sheet below for you to write on with each of the key pictures from the clip.
Here is the link to your lesson:

2) Maths
1. Spend about 15 minutes on TT Rock Stars. (If you’d like your table changing, let me know via email)
2. Open up the ‘Mental Maths’ activity from the resource section below.
3. Today we are trying something different in maths. Click this link to watch a tutorial from me – Mrs B https://youtu.be/33hKMotu254
We will be looking at methods of multiplying this week and will begin with partitioning. After you have watched the video, open up the ‘Multiplying using partitioning’ activity.
3) Spellings
It's Monday so let's practise our handwriting and our spellings at the same time. Concentrate on the size of your handwriting, look carefully at the caterpillar letters – are they all the same height?
4) Topic
This week is all about Science – it’s a science themed week in topic. Each day there will be a selection of investigations for you to explore. Most of them need every day household items but it might be useful to look at what you need in advance.
Today we are looking at biology, specifically the skeleton.
5) Children’s Mental Health Week
This week is a national week dedicated to promoting children’s mental health and wellbeing. Mrs Downing’s has organised lots of fun activities for the whole school to take part in and on Friday, it will be ‘DRESS TO EXPRESS’ day. This means on Friday you can wear clothes on zoom, or in school what express you – whatever you want! I know what I’m going to wear and I’ll think you’ll love it!
With this in mind, every day there will be an activity to take part in but don’t work get to still get out of the house and do some exercise as this is also very good for your mental wellbeing.
Today click this link and watch how to play the squiggle game https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozKW1M97JXE&feature=youtu.be
Forest School
Open up ‘Build a nest’ in the resource section below. In it you will find a challenge for building a nest for a magpie.
