This week lots of your English work will be all about George’s Marvellous Medicine as it is World Book Week! The teachers at school have all recorded themselves reading each chapter for you to watch and listen to. You can find them all in a folder when you click on the Home Learning Star for Week 8 (01.03.21).
Today I’d like you to start by watching Chapter 1 – Grandma, read by Mrs Turega. As you are listening to the story, think about what the 2 characters are like. On the ‘Character sheet’ in the resources section below, draw a picture of Grandma on one side and George on the other. Use what you know from the text but also use your imagination about what you think they might look like based on what you know about them. Can you think of 5 adjectives (describing words) to describe each one? Write them around your picture. Then write one sentence about each of the characters to tell me what they are like.
When you have finished, watch Chapter 2 – The Marvellous Plan, read by Mr Bertram. (You can watch this later today if you prefer but you’ll need to watch it before tomorrow morning.)
What have you learnt so far? Start the lesson by taking the introductory quiz.
In this lesson we will explore the notion of inverse operations and use our times tables knowledge to answer division questions.
In the resources below, you will find the worksheet to complete whilst you are listening to Miss Brinkworth and an intriguing inverses worksheet to complete after the lesson.
When we’re back in the classroom together, we are going to be looking at Vincent Van Gough, especially his painting ‘Sunflowers’. To get you started, I’d like you to look at the painting in the resource section (Sunflowers). Once you have looked at it I’d like you to create your own sunflower. You can choose to paint one, sketch one, craft one, build one out of lego… your choice! Don’t forget to send me some pictures of your creations.
