Monday 11th January

Good Morning Hawthorn Class!

Welcome to another week of Home Learning. I hope you had a lovely weekend - I am excited to see you all on Zoom today! Here are the activities we would like you to complete today. You can choose what order you do the activities in, but we suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail a copy to us each day.

1) English

I love pizza! Over the next week or 2, our English work is going to be all about instructions... any guesses what the final instructions might be about?! We are going to be following some Oak Academy lessons, to help make sure everything is explained to you, and a lovely teacher called Ms Bourke will help you with your learning today. All you will need is a pencil and some paper.

For today’s lesson, click on the link entitled Monster Pizza Instructions 1. It is all about some of the features of instructions. When Ms Bourke talks about sequencing words, these are the same as adverbs of time which you have talked about in school (first, next, then, finally).

If you would like to go that extra mile, why not have a go at following the jam sandwich instructions to make your lunch today? Alternatively, you could write your own instructions about how to make another meal such as what you had for breakfast today.

2) Maths

L.O: I can investigate all the possible numbers that could have been rounded to a multiple of ten.

1. Start the lesson with an online quiz to see what you already know.

2. Try to answer the questions by pausing the video but if you would prefer the questions are at the end of the video too.

3. End the lesson by completing the online quiz to see what you have learnt.

3) Spelling

Have a go at practising your spellings and your handwriting at the same time. Your handwriting sheets are below.

4) Topic

Today you will be looking at dinosaur eating patterns, specifically if they are carnivores, omnivores or herbivores. Open up the ‘Dinosaur Eating Habits’ presentation in the resource section below and read the information. After that, Open up the ‘Dinosaur Eating Habits’ activity. For this activity you will have to cut and stick the dinosaurs into the correct place on the Venn diagram. Alternatively, you could look at the screen and draw your own Venn diagram.

5) PE

PE with Joe is back! Today we will be joining Joe Wicks to help get us moving at home. You can access his videos at any time of day. He is live in the morning but you can google PE with Joe and catch up with any of his workouts. Pick one and get active! Alternatively, you can choose a physical activity of your choice to do at home. I’d love to see photos of you working out!
