Monday 18th

Monday 18th January

Good morning Sycamore class.

Here are the activities I would like you to complete today.

I suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail photos of your work to me each day if you want.

1) English

I’d like you to start by re-reading the How to wash your elephant instructions today. Reading an example text lots of times will help you when you come to write your own instructions. Then I would like you to answer the comprehension questions.

Next, we will complete our next lesson on Monster Pizza Instructions. Now that we have thought about the vocabulary you will need for writing your Monster Pizza Instructions, we are going to practise using it in sentences. We will recap the different types of words and then come up with a list of words we could use. We will be practising saying our sentences today, before you write them down tomorrow. Click on the link entitled Monster Pizza Instructions 6 to start your lesson.

2) Maths

  1. Log on to TT Rock Stars and spend 5-10 minutes on your tables. They are set for all tables up to 12x12 as you should know these off by heart by the end of Y4.
  2. Open up the ‘Times tables’ resource below and answer the questions. Ask an adult to mark them and I will collect the answers this afternoon.
  3. Open up the link and follow the instructions on the video for the Oak academy maths lesson on subtraction. Subtracting using the column method (thenational.academy)
  4. Make sure you record your work on a piece of paper or a computer.

3) Spellings

Learn your spellings whilst practising your handwriting at the same time. Click on the activity below for your group.

4) Topic

  1. It’s Design a Robot Day. Click this link to go to a website where you can create your own robot. https://www.abcya.com/games/make_a_robot
  2. It’s a little tricky (well, it was for me) to find all the right parts and attatch them to your robot, but spend some time trying to do it and when you’re happy with your robot, screen shot or take a photo of it and email it to me. You can even print it so that you can keep it forever.
  3. After you’ve done that, Open up the ‘Design your own Robot’ activity form the resource section. Use this paper to draw a robot and label all the parts. Maybe you can write a paragraph about what function your robot has (cleaning, protection, writing, travel)

5) PE

PE with Joe - He is live in the morning but you can google PE with Joe and catch up with any of his workouts. Pick one and get active! Alternatively, you can choose a physical activity of your choice to do at home – Dance, Gymnastics, bike riding, basketball, and roller skating (my favourite!) Anything you’d like, get it done! I’d love to see photos of you working out!
