Friday 8th January

Good Morning!

Friday 8th January

Good morning Sycamore class.

Here are the activities I would like you to complete today – Friday 8th January.

You can choose what order you do the activities in, but we suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail photos of your work to me each day if you want.

1) English

Think back to everything you have done about dinosaurs for the last couple of days. Do you remember the beginning of the story we read on Wednesday? Today I'd like you to get creative and finish that story - be as imaginative as you can! You might want to spend a few minutes looking at the picture, thinking about what will happen in the story and writing down a few ideas. Click on the Dinosaur Story link below to re-read the beginning and look at the picture. Then let your imagination take over....

2) Maths

Times tables

  1. Log on to TT Rock Stars and spend 5-10 minutes on your tables. They are set for all tables up to 12x12 as you should know these off by heart by the end of Y4.
  2. Open up the ‘Times tables’ resource below and answer the questions – we will check the answers in the afternoon.
  3. Open up the ‘Colum Addition’ activity in the resource section below and complete the questions. Ask an adult to help you if you can’t remember how to do this.
  4. Open up the ‘Addition and Subtraction Problems’ activity from the resource section below. There are three levels of difficulty indicated by the number of stars in the top left corner; 1 star is easy, 2 stars are medium and 3 stars are a challenge. Choose your appropriate level and answer at least 4 of the problems. Ask an adult to help you if you’re struggling.

3) Spelling

Use the activities below to practise your spellings.

4) Topic

Fossils – this afternoon we are going to look at how fossils are formed.

  1. Watch the BBC Bitesize video clip at and then complete the online activities.
  2.  Look at the lesson presentation in the resource section below.
  3. Either print off the activity sheet and stick the pictures in the right order with the words; or you could simply draw a picture and write the information below each one.

Sort the Fossils cards (in the resources section below) and match them with the correct dinosaur.

5) Yoga quest

Explore our second adventure with Moana - Don't forget to use your maps from yesterday.
