Friday 5th March

Good Morning Hawthorn Class!

Here are the activities we would like you to complete today. You can choose what order you do the activities in, but we suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail a copy to us each day.

Start your day with Chapter 5 of Mindfulness for Children...

https://www.worldbookday.com/stories/mindfulness-for-children/

1) English

Today is our last day of home learning and you need to finish listening to George’s Marvellous Medicine:

Chapter 12 - Marvellous Medicine Number 2, read by Mrs Somerville

Chapters 13 and 14 - Marvellous Medicine Number 3 and Marvellous Medicine Number 4, read by Mrs Rudder

Chapter 15 - Goodbye Grandma, read by Mrs Turega

After you have listened to Chapter 12, you can complete today’s activity which is all about nouns and adjectives. Click on ‘Magic Medicine Number 2’ to get started. You can then complete the rest of the story in your own time.

2) Maths - Multiplication and division

Lesson 10 - Consolidating multiplication and division knowledge (Part 1) (thenational.academy)

This will be a revision lesson looking at arrays and bar models as ways of representing multiplication, as well as questions involving inverse and commutativity.

When you have completed the lesson, use your Bug Club login to play multiplication and division games or login to TTRS.

3) Spellings

Complete the spelling activity below to practise your spellings.

4) Topic – Geography

We will be looking at plants from around the world today. Open up the ‘Plants around the world’ presentation from the resource section below. Once you have read through the information, you can choose from the following:

  • Choose one plant to research and create a poster about it.
  • Use the world map in the resource section to add the plants and their homes. With neat lines using a ruler. (You might even want to cut up the pictures from the presentation to stick on the map too.)
  • Create your own poster or computer presentation about the plants that can be seen around the world.

5) PE

Will you choose to complete the final 'PE with Joe' or would you rather get out of the house for some fresh air – take a walk or play in the garden?
