Friday 26th

Friday 26th February

Good morning Sycamore class.

Here are the activities I would like you to complete today.

I suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail photos of your work to me each day if you want.

1) English

Today I’d like you to write a poem all about a sunflower. Start by labelling the Magic Sunflower picture with some adjectives or expanded noun phrases that you could use to describe it. Here are some examples you could magpie:

  • magnificent
  • delicate, golden petals
  • unbelievably tall
  • strong, smooth stem

Then use these words and phrases to write an acrostic poem. Write the word ‘Sunflower’ down the side of your page. You could do this in felt tip or bubble writing to make it stand out. Then start each line of the poem with one of the letters in ‘sunflower’:

Strong, smooth stem, growing tall towards the sky,

U

N

F

L

O

W

E

R

2) Maths

Spend 10-15 minutes on your Times Table Rockstar account. (If you need a specific table, let me know)

Open up the mental maths activity and complete the challenges.

Today we will be moving on to 3D shapes. Click the link to watch a BBC Bitesize video which highlights different 3D shapes and their properties. After that open up the ‘Making 3D shapes’ activity and follow the instructions to make some common 3D shapes. After that, open up the ‘3D Shapes’ activity and complete the tasks. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zwscf82

3) Spellings

Complete the spelling activity below to practise your spellings.

4) Topic – Computing

We are still working on coding. For your lesson today we will be following ‘An Hour of Code’. Click the link and follow the instructions for some Star Wars coding fun. When you open up the webpage, click ‘Blocks’ (not Java script). You don’t have to watch the videos in between but they do give some examples of how coding is used in the real world. After each challenge, it will automatically progress you onto the next level. There is no login required.  Star Wars | Code.org

5) PE

We will be doing Crazy Dancing on Zoom this afternoon so practice your moves. After that, open up the ‘Fitness station’ activity from the resource section and carry out each activity for about 30 seconds. Alternatively, you could create your own fitness circuit.
