Friday 22th January
Good morning Sycamore class.
Here are the activities I would like you to complete today.
Do the activities in any order, but I suggest trying to do the English and Maths in the morning. You can print the work if you want to or you can read from the screen and answer on paper. Please save anything you do to bring into school once we are back so we can have a look at it. You can also ask your grown-ups to e-mail photos of your work to me each day if you want.
1) English
Last week Isla and I created symmetrical butterfly pictures with paints. I then wrote instructions so that someone else could follow them if they wanted to have a go at the same thing. Click on Butterfly Picture Instructions below to see Isla’s picture and our instructions. Read them aloud to remind yourself of the key features.
Today I’d like you to do something similar. Start by being creative – here are some ideas of things you could do:
When you have finished I’d like you to write instructions to tell someone else how to do the same thing. We have had lots of practise so try to remember all that you have learnt.
2) Maths
3) Spellings
Have a go at the spelling activity below to practise your spellings.
4) Topic
Today we are going to look at robots in the real world – what are they used for and how can they help us. Click this link to watch the introduction of ‘Spy in the Wild’ from the BBC iplayer. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000fk9y/spy-in-the-wild-series-2-4-the-poles If you want to watch the whole episode you can, there are 4 currently available on BBC iplayer. From the video you can see how robots are helping scientists understand about the natural world.
5) PE
Today is our final session pf PE for the week. By now you have probably guessed what I’m going to ask you to do. Choose an activity of your choice to get your heart rate up – PE with Joe, Dancing with Oti, bike riding, running laps of the garden, jogging up and down the stairs, playing football with someone in your house – anything!
