7.2.22

In Topic this week the children have been learning about The Arctic. They have enjoyed learning about the landscape; environment, weather and the animals who live there. They showed their understanding by writing superb sentences, making models using Lego and creative materials and completing lots of  challeges on their Challenge Card system. This week they made polar bears; matched Artic adult animals to their young; wrote a list of the animals they would find in The arctic; made superb collage polar bears and completed a Arctic Animals block graph. Well done Little Conkers.

In Maths we spent time learning how to compare the weights of things saying which were heavier and lighter. We then went on the investigate how heavy things were using lever arch balances and cubes. The children were AMAZING at this; especially as this is a Year 1 objective. Great job guys.

In Phonics we continued to learn digraphs. We have now learnt ch,sh,qu,th,ng,ai,ee,and the long vowel sound oo.

Next week we are learning aboyt The Antarctic. Please could you send in empty toilet rolls or kitchen rolls so we can make penguins and also boxes so we can make a big model of The Antarctic.

Thanks
