23.5.22

This week the children worked very hard to prepare their banquet. They made tissue paper flowers for the table; cut out and decorated crowns; made a variety of food that would have been eaten at a medieval banquet including soda bread, vegetable and barley stew and oat biscuits; made coats of arms for bunting and their shields. As well as all of this they learnt about The Battle of Hastings and wrote all about it in their topic books.

On the day of our banquet the children all looked amazing. They thoroughly enjoyed dressing up, playing battles and in particular The Battle of Hastings, showing kindness to each other by rescuing fallen and wounded knights and ladies and then sitting to enjoy eating their wonderful food.

The soda bread they made was a great success as was the vegetable stew. The children made everything themselves learing and using lots of new skills in the process.

Very well done Little Conkers. You were all brilliant.
